10 days in, how are you feeling? Great I hope because today I have a fantastic core workout that involves NO crunches! 
{1} Romanian Dumbbell Deadlift: Grab a pair of dumbbells and stand with them in front of your thighs, knees hip distance apart and slightly bent. Bend at your hips and slowly bend down until your torso is parallel to the floor, then slowly go back up.
Do as many as you can for 60 seconds. 

{2} Bicep Lunge Curl: Stand with the dumbbells at your side, feet hip distance apart. Lunge forward on your right leg and as you do, curl the dumbbells up to your shoulders. Step back into the starting position and uncurl your arms. Repeat on the left side. 
Do as many as you can for 60 seconds 

{3} Dumbbell Overhead Press: Start with arms bend, dumbbells at your shoulders. Extend arms until they are straight and bring back down to starting position. 
Do as many as you can for 60 seconds. 

{4} Mountain Climbers: Start in a straight arm plank. Bring right knee to chest, then back to plank position. Bring left knee to checks, then back to plank position.
Go go go for 60 seconds!

Repeat this set 4 times & feel the burn! Remember to keep your core engaged at all times!

Today I've got a delicious lunch salad recipe for you to try! It is so fresh and one of my favorites! I hope you enjoy. 
Ingredients (makes 4 servings):
-12 oz grilled chicken breasts, sliced
-1 cup diced avocado
-1 cup diced mango (~ 1.5 mangos)
-2 tbsp diced red onion
-6 cups baby butter lettuce

For the dressing:
-2 tbsp EVOO
-2 tbsp white balsamic vinegar
-salt and pepper to taste

Step 1: Mix ingredients for dressing together and set aside.
Step 2: Toss avocado, mango, chicken and red onion together. 
Step 3: Divide lettuce in 4. Divide chicken mixture in 4 and place on lettuce. 
Step 4: Drizzle dressing over the salad and enjoy.

Today's workout is a quickie, see if you can get it done before you head out the door for the day! 
-10 jumping jacks
-10 crunches
-10 pushups
-10 squats
-10 calf raises
-10 reverse lunges
Repeat 5x! 

Helpful hint! If you have a hard time getting motivated in the morning, sleep in your workout clothes and keep a big glass of water by your bed! Wake up, chug your water then get that workout in!

Today is another recipe, but really, its just too yummy not to share! In fact, I'm making it tonight after a serious Constitutional Law study session! I've made it before and it is absolutely one of my favorites. 

Mediterranean Boneless Pork Chops


Ingredients (makes 4 servings) :
-8 think sliced center cut boneless pork chops
-3/4 tsp of McCormick Montreal Chicken Seasoning (I buy the low sodium kind)
-1 small zucchini (spiralized or julienned)
-1 small yellow squash (spiralized or julienned)
-1 cup grape tomatoes (halved)
-1 tbsp EVOO
-1/4 tsp salt and fresh cracked pepper
-1/4 tsp oregano
-3 cloves garlic
-1/4 cup pitted and sliced Kalamata olives
-1/4 cup crumbled Feta cheese
-1/2 lemon, juiced

Step 1: Preheat oven to 450*. Season pork chops with the Montreal Chicken Seasoning. 
Step 2: toss tomatoes with 1/2 of the EOO, salt, pepper and oregano, slice and put on a baking sheet that has been sprayed with non stick spray.
Step 3: Roast tomatoes for 10 min. Add garlic and roast for another 5 min. Reduce oven to 200* 
Step 4: In a large non-stick skillet over medium heat, add 1/2 of the EVOO, squash and zucchini. Add salt to taste and sauté until tender. Combine with tomatoes in an oven safe bowl and put in oven. 
Step 5: Spray skillet with cooking spray and add the pork chops. It is usually best to do a  few at a time. Cook until done. 
Step 6: Remove veggies from the oven and toss with Kalamata olives, and lemon juice. 
Step 7: Put the pork chops on a bed of the veggies and top with Feta! Enjoy!

I'm going to start with workout gear today y'all because OMG GLITTER.
Seriously, have you seen the new Lululemon line. It is to die for. I was skeptical at first as I was under the impression it was actual sequin yoga pants, and my only thought was ouch, but it is in fact a screen print of sequins! All the bling, none of the scratchiness. The only thing that is missing is one of their headbands in the sequin pattern. (Dear Lulu, are you listening?)
I know it is expensive, but I am a huge Lulu fan...I mean I named my cat after the store. 
(JK. Name credit goes to my favorite Jersey girl.) But seriously, if you have even the most remote interest in shiny things you are going to love today's workout gear picks. 
 If you have an iPhone and know the little heart-eyed emoji...just picture that as my face and me jumping up and down.

Today's recipe makes a great lunch salad or a side dish for dinner, not to mention it is super easy to make and saves well so you can make a big batch and eat it through the week. Yay meal prep!
Tomato Mozzarella Avocado Salad
Ingredients:
-2-3 avocados (cubed)
-2-3 tomatoes (cubed) or just use cherry tomatoes halved
-1 ball of fresh mozzarella (cubed)
-2 tbs of EVOO
-1 tsp basil
-salt & pepper to taste

Step 1: Combine all ingredients in a bowl. 
Step 2: Serve! (See I told you it was easy!)

Today's workout challenge is going to focus on your arms & shoulders! And it will only take about 15 minuets!  Ready to feel the burn?
Equipment: 1-2 sets of dumbbells. You know your strengths and weaknesses, if you feel like 5lbs is too easy, up it to 8 or vice versa! 

1 | {Bent Over Dumbbell Reverse Fly} Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and with your knees slightly bent. Bend forward at the hips so your torso is parallel to the ground, holding a pair of dumbbells straight down with palms facing in. Next, with elbows slightly bent, raise the dumbbells out the side so that the elbows extend above the shoulders. Return to starting position. Do as many as you can for 60 seconds! 

2 | {Dumbbell Upright Row} Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and place a pair of dumbbells straight down in front of you. With palms facing your body, pull the weight straight up the front of your body to the top of your chest, keeping the elbows slightly above the shoulders. Again, as many as you can for 60 seconds!

3 | {Dumbbell Shoulder to Shoulder Press} Hold a dumbbell flat in your right hand, resting it on the top of your shoulder. Press straight up and then lower your arm. Alternate with the your left arm. Do as many as you can for 60 seconds! 

4 | {Dumbbell Spider Curls} Hold a pair of dumbbells straight out in front of you with palms facing out. Curl the weight up to full contraction without rocking back and forth.  Return the weight to starting position. Want a challenge?  Alternate left and right for single-arm spider curls. Can you guess how long? Yup, 60 seconds. 

5 | {Dumbbell Skull Crushers}  Lie face up on the floor with feet planted on the floor and your back pressed down. With a dumbbell in each hand, raise the arms straight up (palms facing each other). Then, bending only at the elbows, lower the weight down to your ears, finishing in 90-degree angle. Return to starting position. 60 seconds!

Finished all 5 exercises? That is one set. Repeat 2 more times! You can rest for 15 seconds between each exercise and one minuet between the sets!



Now that you are working on those shoulders and arms, you are going to want to show off those toned muscles! Here is what I have picked out for y'all from DA Active!

25 Days of Fitmas!

Okay- I have a challenge for y'all! From now until Christmas I will be posting a combination of mini workouts, healthy foods and comfy yet practical workout clothes so every one, including myself, can meet their goals by Christmas!
Who is in? 

Day 1: 
We will start easy today with a yummy breakfast recipe. 
Peach Oatmeal
-1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats (not instant)
-1 cup water
-1/2 peach 
-1 tbsp of crushed walnuts (optional)
-1 tsp pure maple sugar

Step 1: Bring water to a boil and add oats. 
Step 2: Let simmer for a minuet and add the peach
Step 3: Let oats cook to the consistency that you prefer.
Step 4: Plate and top with walnuts and maple syrup. Yum!
